Buena Vista Pinot Noir 2023
Buena Vista Pinot Noir is a silky, expressive red from California's oldest premium winery, founded in 1857 and a true pioneer of the state's modern wine industry. Today, under the stewardship of the Boisset family, the historic estate continues its legacy with a focus on sustainable, high-quality viticulture and wines of genuine elegance and character. Why You'll Love It Few wineries in California carry the weight of history that Buena Vista does. Founded in 1857, restored by the Boisset family, and rooted in a philosophy of expressing site, heritage and authenticity, this is a winery that takes Pinot Noir seriously. The 2023 vintage was a particularly fine year, with a cool spring and long, steady ripening period delivering lifted aromatics, fine tannins and notable freshness. The result is a Pinot Noir of real finesse and drinkability at an outstanding price. Vineyard & Production Crafted from carefully selected vineyard parcels across California's cooler coastal regions, where Pacific breezes and morning fog encourage slow, even ripening. These conditions preserve freshness, enhance aromatic nuance and allow Pinot Noir to develop its hallmark finesse. Soils range from marine sediment to volcanic composites, contributing complexity and subtle mineral tension. Grapes are harvested at peak ripeness, gently destemmed and given a cool maceration before fermentation in stainless steel. The wine is then aged in a combination of French oak barrels, predominantly seasoned, bringing layered spice and roundness without overwhelming the fruit. Tasting Notes Bright red cherry, raspberry and fresh strawberry on the nose, with hints of rose petal, baking spice and a touch of vanilla from measured oak ageing. The palate is silky and expressive, with layers of juicy red fruit, gentle savoury undertones and beautifully integrated tannins. A lively thread of acidity carries the wine to a long, elegant, delicately spiced finish. Perfect Pairings A wonderfully versatile Pinot Noir. E
Chateau Puech-Haut Prestige Rouge 2021
' Nestled between the shores of the Mediterranean and the foothills of the Cevennes, the Puech-Haut estate extends over more than one hundred and fifty hectares. The castle was built there with good reason: an ideal climate, passionate men and land covered with pudding stones (galets), made famous in Chateauneuf-du-Pape. Through wine, the personalities and the richness of an entire region are also expressed and shared. Thus, the wines of Chateau Puech-Haut are all steeped in history and endowed with a singular identity and a strong character. The history of Chateau Puech-Haut is closely linked to that of its founder, Gerard Bru. A man who, after a successful industrial career, decided to leave everything behind to reconnect with his roots: The land of Languedoc. This region of southern France was already full of history for Gerard. It was on this land that he was introduced to vineyards by his grandfather. And it is also here that his father worked as intendant of the National School of Agronomy of Montpellier. It was there, at the time just scrubland and wild olive groves, that he built his dream. '
