Bumbu XO Rum
The long awaited Bumbu XO is a smooth, rich and complex handcrafted rum created from scratch by the master distiller. Aged for up to 18 years in bourbon barrels to achieve a beautifully balanced, endlessly sippable rum. Finished in Spanish sherry casks made from white oak grown in Spain's Andalsuia region. No aritifical colours or flavours added, only the best hand selected sugarcane, pure spring water and oak. A full strength sherry cask finished rum that can pair with the most robust cigar and is perfect for traditional cocktails, but we think this should be enjoyed neat to showcase the excellence that is Bumbu XO. Distilled and aged at their sister distillery in Panama, where they created a truely unique and unquestionable superior rum. The distillery dates back to 1890 and the still they use is from 1912, thats more than 100 years old! Aromas of toffee, toasted oak and vanilla give way to orange zest, peppery spice and even a hint of coffee on the palate. A wonderfully engaging rum that encourages repeat visits. Just like their smash hit bottle of the Original Bumbu, Bumbu XO is named for the 400 year old rum 'Bumbu' made by sailors and merchants of the 16th and 17th century West Indies. Bumbu XO marks the next chapter in the recreation of this authentic Caribbean legend!
Pussers Gunpowder Proof Spiced Rum
The superb overproof rum in this bottle has been chill filtered and aged for a minimum of 3 years in once used charred oak bourbon barrels and further enhanced with a unique blend of Caribbean spices. Prior to the interdiction of the Sikes hydrometer, in 1816, the ship's Purser, or "Pusser", tested the strength of the daily issue by mixing neat rum, with a little water to which was added to a few gunpowder grains. If, when the mixture was heated through a burning glass, the gunpowder ignited, the rum was served at "Proof". When the method was tested by hydrometer, it was found to be 109 proof (54.5%ABV).
