Ca dei Frati Ronchedone Rosso 2021
Ca' dei Frati Ronchedone Rosso is an elegant red wine from the southern shores of Lake Garda, crafted from a blend of Sangiovese, Marzemino and Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine shows depth, balance and expressive character, reflecting the quality and precision of the Dal Cero family's winemaking on the well-drained alluvial soils deposited by ancient glaciers. Why You'll Love It This is Lake Garda red wine at its finest—elegant, balanced, and beautifully crafted. The Dal Cero family moved to Ca' dei Frati in 1939 and quickly recognised the potential of the southern shores of Lake Garda for fine grape growing. Franco Dal Cero manages the vineyards while Igino Dal Cero oversees winemaking, blending meticulous vineyard practices with careful cellar techniques. The family were instrumental in the creation of the Lugana DOC in the late 1960s and today are its largest vineyard owners. The result is a wine with exceptional depth, balance and character. Vineyard & Production The estate's vineyards are planted on glacial soils deposited by ancient glaciers, which moderate vine vigour. The lake tempers hot summer temperatures, creating ideal conditions for expressive and balanced wines. Vines are trained low on single or double Guyot, with newer plantings having higher density, while yields remain below the regional average. Warm days provide weight and intensity, while cool nights from the lake's influence retain freshness and aromatic expression. Grapes are hand-picked and carefully sorted before gentle pressing. The wine is matured carefully to develop complexity and texture. Tasting Notes This elegant red wine displays depth and balance. The palate shows expressive character with ripe fruit, structured tannins and a refined finish, reflecting the quality and precision of the Dal Cero family's winemaking. Perfect Pairings A versatile food wine, perfect with grilled meats, roasted poultry, pasta with red sauce, aged cheeses, or Italian cuisine. Also excellent with hearty dishes
Clos de Gat Ayalon Valley 2018
Clos de Gat Ayalon Valley is a bold, structured red from the foothills of the Judean Mountains in Israel, crafted by owner-winemaker Eyal Rotem from 19 hectares of limestone-rich vineyards bordering the historic Ayalon Valley. Founded in 1998 around an ancient Roman-era wine press, Clos de Gat produces wines of genuine depth, regional character, and Mediterranean soul. Why You'll Love It This is Israeli fine wine at its most compelling — concentrated, elegant, and built to age. Rotem's uncompromising approach — handpicking, open-tank fermentation, 18 months in new French oak, and bottling without filtration — results in a wine that rivals the best of Bordeaux in structure while remaining unmistakably rooted in its Middle Eastern terroir. Outstanding quality for the price. Vineyard & Production Grown in a Mediterranean climate on limestone-rich soils in the Judean foothills, the grapes are handpicked following rigorous selection and gently crushed before fermentation in open tanks. The wine is aged for approximately 18 months in new French oak barrels, racked periodically to refine texture and complexity, then bottled unfiltered to preserve purity and concentration. Tasting Notes Deep and expressive, the Ayalon Valley opens with aromas of blackcurrant, dark cherry, and Mediterranean herbs, lifted by subtle toasty oak. On the palate it is concentrated and well-balanced, with fine, integrated tannins, earthy complexity, and a long, elegant finish. Perfect Pairings Ideal with Mediterranean cuisine — grilled or roasted meats, slow-cooked lamb, hearty casseroles, and mature hard cheeses. Also excellent alongside Middle Eastern mezze or a classic roast. The Blend Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot — Judean Mountains, Israel
