Ca' dei Frati Ronchedone Rosso is an elegant red wine from the southern shores of Lake Garda, crafted from a blend of Sangiovese, Marzemino and Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine shows depth, balance and expressive character, reflecting the quality and precision of the Dal Cero family's winemaking on the well-drained alluvial soils deposited by ancient glaciers. The Dal Cero family moved to Ca' dei Frati in 1939 and quickly recognised the potential of the southern shores of Lake Garda for fine grape growing. Franco Dal Cero manages the vineyards while Igino Dal Cero oversees winemaking, blending meticulous vineyard practices with careful cellar techniques. The family were instrumental in the creation of the Lugana DOC in the late 1960s and today are its largest vineyard owners. The result is a wine with exceptional depth, balance and character. Vineyard & Production The estate's vineyards are planted on glacial soils deposited by ancient glaciers, which moderate vine vigour. The lake tempers hot summer temperatures, creating ideal conditions for expressive and balanced wines. Vines are trained low on single or double Guyot, with newer plantings having higher density, while yields remain below the regional average. Warm days provide weight and intensity, while cool nights from the lake's influence retain freshness and aromatic expression. Grapes are hand-picked and carefully sorted before gentle pressing. ' Ramon Bilbao is a renowned Spanish winery based in Rioja, known for producing high-quality wines that blend tradition with innovation. Established in 1924, the winery specializes in crafting elegant, complex wines, with a focus on Tempranillo grapes. Their top-tier wine, Mirto, is made from old vines in select vineyards and is produced only in exceptional years, reflecting the excellence and craftsmanship that define the Ramon Bilbao legacy. The grapes are sourced from carefully selected vineyards located in various villages near Haro, with altitudes ranging between 450 and 700 meters. These vineyards have sandy soils with low fertility and limited water retention. After a meticulous selection of grapes, the wine was fermented in wooden vats at a controlled temperature of 27-28ºC, using natural yeasts. It was then aged for 15 months in new French oak barrels and spent an additional 10 months aging in underground cellars. The winter saw extremely cold weather in 2020, including heavy snowfall and significant rainfall during the ''Filomena'' storm in January. The summer, although warm and dry, experienced some rainfall prior to the harvest, resulting in diverse growing conditions. '
