Caballo Loco Red Blend No.21

Caballo Loco No.21 is the latest edition of Viña Valdivieso's legendary numbered series, one of Chile's most iconic and revered red wines . A non-vintage blend sourced from Chile's finest valleys, it is crafted from a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon , Malbec , and Cabernet Franc , built using a progressive blending method inspired by the solera system used in sherry production. Why You'll Love It Caballo Loco, meaning 'Crazy Horse' in Spanish, was named after one of Valdivieso's most eccentric winemakers, Jorge Coderch, who pioneered the unique process behind this wine. Every bottle of Caballo Loco is non-vintage, containing 50% of the current edition and 50% of the previous, with the grape blend varying each year according to which varieties have performed best. The result is a wine of uniquely dense complexity, with layers of aroma and flavour that have made Caballo Loco one of Chile's most celebrated and collected wines. No.21 is the twenty-first chapter in this extraordinary story. Winemaking Grapes are sourced from Valdivieso's finest vineyard sites across Chile's Central Valley, hand-harvested and aged in French oak barrels before being progressively blended with the previous edition. This solera-inspired approach builds extraordinary depth and consistency across every numbered release, while allowing the character of each vintage to leave its mark. Bottled at 13% ABV. Tasting Notes An intense aromatic profile of dark cherries, cassis, and espresso, with notes of sweet cooking spices. Full-bodied and complex on the palate, with a perfect balance of tannins and acidity, and a lingering, elegant finish. Perfect Pairings An outstanding partner for beef, lamb, and game dishes with rich, hearty sauces. Also excellent alongside aged hard cheeses and slow-cooked red meat dishes. Grape Varieties Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Cabernet Franc (blend varies by edition)

Jim Barry The Benbournie 2021

Benbournie was settled in 1853 and today, ancient vines, fig and almond trees remain. Berry, mocha, herb and cedar notes have a little savoury minerality; fine tannins help it improve with age
