Cadenhead's Old Raj Gin is distinctive in that it contains a measure of saffron, the rare and costly spice derived from the crocus flower. In addition to a slightly spicy flavour, this also imparts a pale yellow colour to Old Raj. The addition of saffron is undertaken personally by the Company Chairman in order to ensure a consistency in flavour and colour each time Old Raj is bottled.
Ungava Gin
Ungava is a fascinating Canadian gin, crafted using six rare botanicals that impart a unique flavour profile and its natural, vibrant hue. These hand-picked botanicals include Nordic juniper, Arctic blend, cloudberry, crowberry, Labrador tea, and wild rose hips. Named after the Ungava Peninsula, located at the northern tip of Quebec, Canada, it greets the nose with aromas of peppermint tea, pine, and a hint of lemon curd, with floral wafts of white flowers developing. On the palate, it offers sweet summer berries with a trace of fig, while spicy notes of juniper lie at its core. The aftertaste reveals peppermint evolving into sweet spearmint, accompanied by fading layers of caramel.
