Cape Mentelle Sauvignon Semillon Blanc 2021
This cool-climate Sauvignon Blanc blend is crafted from select parcels sourced from some of the most expressive sites, chosen for their purity of fruit and naturally vibrant acidity. The wine reflects the tension, drive and aromatic clarity that these coastal and elevated vineyards provide. Harvested at optimal ripeness, the fruit is handled gently to preserve its fresh, delicate aromatics. Fermentation highlights the pristine varietal character, while a portion of Semillon adds depth, texture and length. The result is an elegant, mineral-driven wine with lift, precision and a long, citrus-inflected finish. Meet the producer The winery is dedicated to showcasing cool-climate terroir through meticulous vineyard selection and thoughtful winemaking. Sustainability, site expression and minimal intervention are central to their philosophy, resulting in wines that highlight purity, balance and finesse. Production Each parcel is harvested and handled separately to preserve its unique characteristics. Fermentation captures the fresh, aromatic profile of Sauvignon Blanc, while the Semillon component contributes structure and subtle weight. Careful blending creates harmony between vibrancy and texture, producing a wine with both immediate charm and the potential to evolve gracefully with short-term cellaring. Tasting notes Pale straw with brilliant green hues, the wine opens with intense aromas of pink grapefruit, lychee, guava and white nectarine, complemented by jasmine, camomile and lime zest. The palate is bright and energetic, showing lemon peel, passion fruit pips, citrus blossom and rockmelon, edged with subtle salinity. Supple texture and driving minerality lead to a crisp, citrus-peel finish. Food match Excellent with crispy whiting and a soy-ginger dressing, lemon and asparagus risotto, or fresh goats’ cheese drizzled with honey. Grape Sauvignon Blanc 85%, Semillon 15%
Wakefield Estate Riesling 2025
' The Taylor family of Wakefield Wines have been crafting fine Australian wine for five decades and over three generations. They are proud members of Australia's First Families of Wine - an organistion that has a combined 1,250 years of unrivalled heritage and iconic wines from families that have shaped Australia's winemaking history. When the Taylor family established their wine business back in 1969, they decided to create a proper 'old world' style estate in the Clare Valley. That's where the name 'Estate' comes from. The Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz were the very first wines released and are the heart and soul of the business. In the language of wine, an estate means that the vineyards and winery are in the same location. The inspiration for this came from the great producers of Bordeaux and in particular Chateau Mouton Rothschild who famously were the first to also bottle their wines on the estate. This approach of having ultimate control over the vineyards, winery and even bottling of the wines appealed to the Taylor family. These days the wines are still crafted and bottled on the estate although not all of the fruit is grown there. This is mainly because of the popularity of the wines, but occasionally fruit from other areas is of a higher quality, as is the case for the Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc. It's this commitment to the way our wines are crafted that has earned the Taylors an enviable reputation and contributed to their continued success. Wakefield Wines have consistently won awards around the world for the quality of the wines for almost half a century. '
