Kilkerran 12 Year Old

Kilkerran 12 Year Old is a lightly peated Campbeltown single malt whisky that provides a fitting introduction to the Kilkerran range. Bottled at 46% ABV and matured in 70% bourbon and 30% sherry casks, this expression showcases characteristic citrus notes and an oiliness on the palate that's typical of Campbeltown whiskies. With sweet confectionery notes, subtle peat smoke, and a complex, layered character, this 12-year-old offers exceptional quality and represents the revival of whisky making in Scotland's once-thriving whisky capital. Why You'll Love It This is Campbeltown whisky at its most approachable and refined. Kilkerran 12 Year Old strikes a perfect balance between sweet, fruity notes and gentle peat smoke, with the characteristic oiliness that defines the region's style. The combination of bourbon and sherry cask maturation creates layers of complexity, from Turkish delight and marzipan to lemon cheesecake and sticky toffee pudding. Bottled at 46% ABV without chill filtration, it retains all the natural oils and flavours that make Campbeltown whiskies so distinctive. Distillery & Production Produced at Glengyle Distillery in Campbeltown, which was reopened in 2004 after being silent since 1925. The Kilkerran name (from the Gaelic for Campbeltown) represents the rebirth of whisky making in this historic region. The whisky is aged for 12 years in a combination of 70% bourbon casks and 30% sherry casks, then bottled at 46% ABV without chill filtration to preserve the full character and mouthfeel. Tasting Notes The nose reveals sweet confectionery with Turkish delight, pear drops, and marzipan, along with hints of subtle peat smoke like toasted marshmallows by a campfire. The palate is initially zesty with citrus notes of lemon cheesecake and an oiliness typical of Campbeltown whisky. Peat smoke, leather-bound books, and peppery, spicy notes develop over time, along with sweet sticky toffee pudding. The finish carries the peat smoke through in campfire embers,
