Castello Romitorio, Filo Di Seta Brunello Di Montalcino 2013
When we first brought on Castello di Romitorio we were convinced this was an estate going places and it's a real pleasure to see Filippo and the team achieve the superstar status they deserve. The Filo di Seta is Romitorio's single vineyard Brunello is named after a creek that flows through the forest nearby, and is one of the finest wines of Montalcino, regularly scoring into the top five wines of the vintage from Vinous' Eric Guido and Monica Larner. From 350m elevation, the Filo di Seta is an extremely finessed Sangiovese with incredible energy.
Morey-Saint-Denis, Domaine Taupenot-Merme 2021
Romain Taupenot continues to oversee the inexorable climb of this fantastic domaine, now indisputably in the premier League, whilst retaining its value proposition. He crafts wines of structure, clear vineyard expression, and complexity from an exciting array of vineyards, and the wines are high class examples of their appellations. Rich in Premiers Crus, Morey-Saint-Denis boasts also 5 Grands Crus (Clos de Tart, Bonnes Mares, Clos de la Roche, Clos Saint-Denis, Clos des Lambrays). The appellation forms a bridge, between the wines of Gevrey-Chambertin and those of Chambolle-Musigny.
