Catalina Sounds Pinot Noir 2023
Catalina Sounds Pinot Noir from Marlborough is an expressive and structured wine, showcasing the region’s signature herby, aromatic style. Bright, elegant, and balanced, this Pinot Noir exemplifies Marlborough’s cool-climate finesse. Production Made from 100% Pinot Noir grapes, this Appellation Marlborough Wine is sustainably grown and fully sourced from Marlborough vineyards. Grapes are harvested over 14 days, both by hand and machine, with handpicked fruit fully destemmed. Each parcel is fermented separately in open-top fermenters using a combination of selected and wild yeasts. Post-fermentation, the wine spends 5–7 days on the skins before pressing. Maturation takes place in French oak barrels (12% new) for 11 months, with selected batches blended and bottled prior to the next harvest. Tasting notes Aromas of red and dark berries combine with subtle spice and earthy, savoury undertones. The palate is elegant and lively, offering raspberry and cherry flavours, bright wild strawberry fruit, and a refreshing, juicy finish. Food match Pairs beautifully with earthy dishes such as fresh pasta with seasonal field mushrooms and truffle oil, as well as roasted duck with plum sauce. Grape 100% Pinot Noir
Smalltown Vineyards Clovella Mataro Grenache 2019
Clovella is a field planting of roughly 60/40 Grenache and Mourvedre. It is a 40 year old vineyard from the Gomersal sub-district of the Barossa Valley that Rolf Binder has been cultivating himself for many years. The wine spends 22 months in older French oak. The purpose of this wine is to show Mourvèdre and Grenache with some development rather than the super-juicy-young-bright Grenache of the moment. It starts with cassis, a nose full of promise. Clove and black pepper spice. The palate is dark and sultry with a dried fruit appeal. It finishes with a gentle lick of oak from the time the wine spends in oak.
