Cave de Turckheim Riesling Alsace Grand Cru Brand 2022
An exemplary Alsace Riesling, combining elegance, intensity, and complexity. Cave de Turckheim Grand Cru Brand Riesling 2019 delivers finely tuned citrus, pear, and floral aromas, underpinned by a flinty minerality, and a beautifully balanced palate with richness, smoky nuances, and lively acidity. Meet the producer Widely regarded as one of the best co-operatives in the world, Cave de Turckheim sits at the mouth of the Munster Valley, dedicated to crafting wines of precision, balance, and regional expression. Production Grapes are sourced from the Grand Cru Brand vineyard, planted on dry granite soils with a southerly aspect providing high levels of sunshine. Only Riesling, Muscat d’Alsace, Pinot Gris, and Gewurztraminer are permitted in these exceptional plots. Winemaker Jean Michel Lihrmann employs traditional methods: pneumatic pressing, temperature-controlled fermentation, minimal filtration, and no finings, preserving the wine’s fruit, aromatic complexity, and vibrant acidity. Tasting notes Fine and dry on the nose with elegant pear, citrus, and floral aromas supported by subtle toast and wet-gravel minerality. The palate is broader and textured, balancing richness with a smoky undertone and crisp, persistent acidity. Food match Perfect with seafood, or the classic Alsace pairings of rich pork and cheese dishes such as Choucroute or Tarte Flambée (Flammküche). Grape Riesling 100%
Vuurberg White 2023
Vuurberg White is an exceptional, elegant white wine from Vuurberg, a boutique garage-style winery in the Western Cape of South Africa . A complex, mountain-grown blend of six varieties led by Chenin Blanc and Viognier , it draws on fruit from Franschhoek , Stellenbosch, Swartland and Paarl to create a wine of real depth, sophistication and sense of place. Why You'll Love It Vuurberg, meaning Fire Mountain, is dedicated to meticulous vineyard management and small-batch winemaking, and this white is the clearest expression of that philosophy. Six varieties, wild fermentation, nine months on lees in French barriques and full malolactic fermentation combine to produce a wine of extraordinary complexity and texture. Clean, bright and endlessly layered, it is a serious white for those who want something genuinely different from the Cape. Vineyard and Production The blend is led by Chenin Blanc (47%), Viognier (20%) and Verdelho (14%), with smaller parcels of Grenache Blanc , Semillon and Roussanne completing the picture. Grapes are picked early and processed using a combination of crushing, destemming and whole-bunch pressing depending on the variety. All components undergo wild fermentation and mature for nine months on fermentation lees in French barriques and 400-litre barrels, with 25% new oak and full malolactic fermentation. The wine is coarsely filtered before bottling. Tasting Notes Clean, bright and sophisticated. Aromas and flavours of fresh stone fruit, white spice and pithy minerality are underpinned by stony acidity, culminating in a persistent, elegant and beautifully balanced finish. Perfect Pairings Ideal with fresh crayfish, sole meuniere or simply grilled and salted turbot. Also excellent alongside roasted chicken, creamy risotto or a fine cheese board. Grape Varieties Chenin Blanc, Viognier, Verdelho, Grenache Blanc , Semillon, Roussanne
