De Bortoli Deen Vat 5 Botrytis Semillon (Half bottle) 2020
Deen Vat 5 Botrytis Semillon is part of the Deen Vat range, created in honour of Deen De Bortoli — a true pioneer who believed that great wine should be enjoyed by everyone. This golden, luscious dessert wine offers fabulous concentration with aromas of honeyed apricot, pear, and peach, lifted by candied citrus peel and gentle wafts of vanilla. Tangy citrus acidity perfectly balances the sweetness, giving the wine poise and freshness. Why You'll Love It This is exceptional botrytis winemaking made accessible. Crafted by De Bortoli, renowned for their expertise in sweet wine production, Deen Vat 5 delivers the luscious richness and complexity of noble rot at an approachable price point. The balance of honeyed sweetness with vibrant acidity makes it incredibly versatile, while the partial oak fermentation adds subtle complexity without overwhelming the pure fruit character. Meet the Producer The De Bortoli family's winemaking legacy spans four generations and over 90 years, evolving from humble beginnings to one of Australia's most respected family-owned wineries. With vineyards across six premium wine regions, De Bortoli is renowned for innovation and craftsmanship, particularly in sweet and fortified wine production. Their philosophy centres on sharing good wine, good food, and good company. Production Fruit is sourced primarily from De Bortoli's own vineyards in the Riverina, as well as long-standing growers who cultivate Botrytis Semillon specifically for the estate. Following a warm, dry summer, rain in early May and foggy mornings encouraged noble rot to develop, concentrating flavour and sweetness in the berries. Each vineyard parcel is harvested, fermented, and matured separately to preserve its character and complexity. Around 20% of the wine is fermented in French oak, with the remainder kept unoaked to highlight fruit purity and freshness.
