CHABLIS 1er Cru Côte de Léchet Domaine Denis Pommier 2023

Aged in 50% wood. A hint of the exotic suffuses the ripe and fresh white orchard fruit aromas where added breadth is present in the form of quinine, spice and a whiff of iodine. There is good tension to the medium-bodied flavors that possess a bit more mid-palate density and richness while displaying slightly better depth and persistence on the balanced, clean and dry finale where a hint of minerality slowly emerges. One to consider.

MERCUREY Blanc 1er Cru Les Veleys Domaine Raquillet 2023

35% new wood. The oak influence is more noticeable though it still easily allows the slightly exotic aromas of honeysuckle, white peach, passion fruit and citrus confit to be appreciated. There is very good size, weight and mid-palate density to the markedly rich and sappy medium-bodied flavors that aren’t nearly as mineral-driven though they are more complex on the bitter lemon-inflected finale where a touch of warm slowly emerges. This could easily be enjoyed immediately though a few years of keeping should help to better integrate the wood treatment.
