CHABLIS 1er Cru Troësmes Domaine Denis Pommier 2023
This used to be labelled as Beauroy. More subtle if not invisible oak envelops the gently exotic aromas of white peach, orange peel, spice and quinine scents. The delicious and appealingly textured flavours possess good if not special concentration while exhibiting good length on the balanced, dry and bitter lemon-inflected finish that is firm enough to suggest an aging curve of 5 to 8 years.
MERCUREY 1er Cru Les Veleys Domaine Raquillet 2023
30% new oak and aged for 12 months under wood with another 6 months in stainless. A slightly fresher and brighter nose speaks of an appealingly layered blend of both red and dark pinot fruit, earth, spice and moderate but not invasive wood. There is excellent delineation to the even finer middle weight flavors that possess solid depth on the balanced, youthfully austere and sneaky long finish. This is lovely and I very much like the understated style.
