CHABLIS 1er Cru Troësmes Domaine Denis Pommier 2023
This used to be labelled as Beauroy. More subtle if not invisible oak envelops the gently exotic aromas of white peach, orange peel, spice and quinine scents. The delicious and appealingly textured flavours possess good if not special concentration while exhibiting good length on the balanced, dry and bitter lemon-inflected finish that is firm enough to suggest an aging curve of 5 to 8 years.
MERCUREY Blanc 1er Cru Les Veleys Domaine Raquillet 2023
35% new wood. The oak influence is more noticeable though it still easily allows the slightly exotic aromas of honeysuckle, white peach, passion fruit and citrus confit to be appreciated. There is very good size, weight and mid-palate density to the markedly rich and sappy medium-bodied flavors that aren’t nearly as mineral-driven though they are more complex on the bitter lemon-inflected finale where a touch of warm slowly emerges. This could easily be enjoyed immediately though a few years of keeping should help to better integrate the wood treatment.
