Chablis Grand Cru 'Les Preuses', Maison de Montille 2018
Working with organically farmed vineyards and a philosophy of minimal intervention, our friends at de Montille focus on expressing the purity and precision of Chablis’ famed Kimmeridgian soils. The Les Preuses, one of the appellation’s seven Grand Crus, is often regarded as the most elegant of the group, prized for its combination of power, refinement and remarkable ageing potential. The warm and generous 2018 vintage has produced a wine of impressive depth, yet one that retains the freshness and mineral definition that make great Chablis so compelling. Careful élevage, with only a subtle influence from oak, allows the vineyard’s character to remain front and centre. Richer than many cooler-vintage Chablis, yet unmistakably Grand Cru in its poise and precision, this is a superb expression of one of the region’s finest terroirs.
Meursault 'Saint Christophe', Domaine de Montille 2023
"From a blend of two parcels, this wine balances freshness with roundness, offering notes of citrus, floral elements, and subtle butter and almond. Aged on lees for complexity, it already shows layers of texture but will develop further brioche and honeyed nuances with time." Our note The 2023 vintage reflects a year of moderate warmth with consistent sunshine, leading to steady, well-paced ripening. Although temperatures weren’t extreme, the shift to warmer nights and milder days contributed to extended growing periods. This translated into wines that are strikingly fresh, with lower alcohol levels, vivid acidity, and vibrant character—brighter and more approachable compared to recent years. Both red and white wines achieved impressive yields, the largest ever recorded for the estate, with terroir expression and balance shining through. Whites carry their hallmark freshness and minerality, further underscored by the decision to reduce the percentage of new oak due to the larger volumes produced. The domaine features as one of the Top 10 Côte de Beaune Red Wine, and White Wine Producers in Tim Atkin's Burgundy 2023 Special Report.
