CHAMBOLLE MUSIGNY 1er Cru Charmes Domaine Christian Clerget 2018
Dense dark purple. A crisp clean but relatively undemonstrative nose. One plot by the cross, the other next to Leroy further north. A bit of whole bunch crunch. This has both weight and class and a little more at the back, generous smooth texture then some barrel tannins at the back. 4/5 stars
CHASSAGNE MONTRACHET 1er Cru Morgeot Domaine Fernand & Laurent Pillot 2023
(80% from Petit Clos and 20% from Fairendes). A pretty floral-suffused nose features notes of smoky white orchard fruit, citrus confit and a touch of rosemary oil. The succulent, round and solidly concentrated medium-bodied flavors exhibit solid power on the balanced and impressively persistent finale. Once again, this could use better depth but that underlying material appears to be present for that development to occur over time.
