CHAMBOLLE MUSIGNY Domaine J. Confuron Cotetidot 2020
(from Les Fremiers, Guérippes, Mal Carrées and Les Condemennes). Here the equally ripe nose is not as fresh with its aromas of roasted plum, baked cherry and dark chocolate. The concentrated middle weight flavors possess slightly better freshness while displaying reasonably depth and persistence on the rustic and palate coating finish. While I wouldn’t describe this as flat, it doesn’t have the same vibrancy as the prior villages-level wines.
CHÂTEAUNEUF DU PAPE Les Sables de la Crau Domaine Jean Royer 2020
The 2020 Châteauneuf du Pape Les Sables De La Crau, which includes 20% Mourvèdre, is even deeper hued and boasts a rich, flamboyant, incredibly sexy personality as well as loads of black raspberry and blackberry fruits, notes of ground pepper, flowery incense, and licorice, no hard edges, ripe tannins, and a great finish. It's one of the sexiest, most sweetly fruited wines in the vintage.
