CHAMBOLLE MUSIGNY Orveaux des Bussières Domaine Christophe Perrot-Minot 2018
The 2018 Chambolle-Musigny Vieilles Vignes contains around 40% declassified fruit from La Combe d’Orveau this year. It has plenty of brambly red fruit on the nose, and strong crushed stone scents emerge with time. The palate is medium-bodied with clean, precise tannins, very well-judged acidity and a harmonious, silky-smooth finish that does not outstay its welcome. Enjoy this over the next decade.
CHASSAGNE MONTRACHET Marquis de Laguiche 1er Cru Morgeot Joseph Drouhin 2019
(from Le Grand Clos and Vignes Blanches). Notes of petrol and rosemary oil add breadth to the ripe and softly exotic white peach scents. There is good verve to the relatively refined medium-bodied flavors that flash terrific persistence on the balanced finale. This will need to develop better depth to achieve the upper end of my projected range, but it appears to have the potential to do just that.
