CHAMBOLLE MUSIGNY Vieilles Vignes Domaine Lignier-Michelot 2020
(from 50+ year old vines in Les Drazey and Gamaires). An overtly floral-suffused nose reflects additional notes of pretty red and dark cherry, raspberry and spiced tea. Here too the middle weight flavors possess a lovely sense of verve while terminating in a chiseled, clean and youthfully austere finish that is very Chambollesque in character.
MOREY SAINT DENIS Vieilles Vignes Domaine Lignier-Michelot 2020
(from a blend of Très Girard, Les Cognées and Chenevery). Here the nose is sufficiently reduced that only discreet floral wisps can be discerned. Once again there is a lovely texture to the vibrant, delineated and utterly delicious medium weight flavors that deliver fine length on the moderately austere finish that is so refreshing that one feels like drinking it. This could use a bit more depth, but more should develop in time.
