Champagne Laurent Perrier Vintage 2012
' ''In 1881, when Cellar Master Eugène Laurent inherited the Alphonse Pierlot Champagne House, he provided it with the essential foundations required to produce great champagnes, namely the houses and land to create a fully-fledged estate. He purchased vines in the very best terroirs of Bouzy, Tours-sur-Marne, and Ambonnay, excavated 800 metres of cellars, and set up a tasting laboratory. That is how the Domaine Laurent-Perrier (the Estate) was anchored in Tours-sur-Marne. This picturesque village is ideally situated at the crossroads of the three main wine growing areas of the Marne departement: the Montagne de Reims, the Vallee de la Marne and the Côte des Blancs. It is also part of the 17 Champagne villages ranking in the prestigious ˜Grand Cru' area.'' Grape varietals: Chardonnay 50% Pinot Noir 50% Crus: Chardonnay from the Côte des Blancs: Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Oger, Cramant, Chouilly. Pinot Noir from the Montagne de Reims: Bouzy, Ay, Verzy, Mailly, Rilly-la-Montagne. The Vintage is the choice of an exceptional year from which only a selection of the Chardonnay and Pinot Noir Grands Crus will enter into a future iteration of Grand Siècle. It is a rare and outstanding wine that expresses the character of the year in the Laurent-Perrier style. The year 2012 is characterized by successive climatic incidents. Firstly there is the winter frost that makes the vine more sensitive. Then comes the spring frost as well as a dozen hail storms causing considerable damage and affecting many areas of the vineyard. Finally a violent thunderstorm accompanied by strong hail breaks out on the 7th of June and destroys large land areas in the surrounding villages. In spite of these climatic incidents the dry, sunny summer allowed for an exceptional ripening of the grapes. '
Louis Roederer Brut Vintage Champagne 2016
Louis Roederer Brut Vintage 2016 is a Grand Cru Champagne of exceptional refinement from one of the Champagne region's most celebrated and historic houses, founded in 1776 and currently managed by Frederic Rouzaud. A blend of Pinot Noir from the Grand Cru of Verzy and Chardonnay from the Grand Cru of Chouilly, this is a vintage Champagne of real complexity, precision and elegance. Why You'll Love It Louis Roederer is one of the few remaining family-owned Champagne houses, and its commitment to quality is unmatched. With over 240 hectares of Grand Cru and Premier Cru vineyards, the house is self-sufficient for 70% of its non-vintage production and 100% of its vintage Champagnes, a rare distinction that gives them complete control over quality from vine to bottle. A pioneer in sustainable viticulture, Roederer employs organic and regenerative practices across its vineyards, working in harmony with nature to express the finest terroir in Champagne. The 2016 vintage is a singular tribute to the Grand Cru of Verzy, producing wines of intense fruit character, silky texture and remarkable precision. Vineyard & Production A blend of 68% Pinot Noir from the Grand Cru of Verzy and 32% Chardonnay from the Grand Cru of Chouilly. Harvest took place from 15 September to 1 October. Approximately 33% of the wine underwent fermentation in oak, with 5% malolactic fermentation, and a dosage of 7g/l was applied to balance freshness and richness. The 2016 growing season brought a cool, wet spring followed by a warm, dry summer with a late August heatwave, favouring the Pinot Noir with intense fruit and silky texture, while the Chardonnay achieved a chiselled, saline profile. Tasting Notes Gently toasted, powdery aromas on the nose, blending ripe red fruits, Burlat cherry and redcurrant, candied citrus and roasted hazelnuts. Subtle mineral notes of sun-warmed chalk and calcareous millstone emerge with aeration. The palate is complex and generous, with a juicy, creamy body layered with ne
