CHARMES CHAMBERTIN Grand Cru Domaine Lignier-Michelot 2013
Dark red-ruby. Deep, brooding aromas of very ripe, musky black fruits and black licorice complicated by a tarry element. Fat, silky and sweet but vinous too; in a rather muscular, powerful style but lifted by strong peppery/herbal acidity. Tannins saturate the entire palate. This dry, classic, thick wine needs several years in the cellar to come into harmony and may ultimately merit an even higher rating.
PIEDRA INFINITA Gravascal Zuccardi 2018
Blueberries, burnt orange, iodine and roses on the nose. Hints of graphite and tar, too. Full-bodied with ultra fine tannins that envelop the wine. The fruit is pure and precise, displaying uncanny discretion in the ripeness factor. Terrific length and texture at the finish.
