CHASSAGNE MONTRACHET 1er Cru Champgains Domaine Fernand & Laurent Pillot 2022
(from 10+ year old vines). Agreeably fresh and bright aromas are comprised by a mix of ripe white orchard fruit, floral and a whiff of rosemary oil. The succulent, round and seductively delicious medium weight flavors possess very fine volume and while displaying solid length and reasonable depth on the refreshing finale. Champs Gain typically drinks well young and this version should be no exception.
VOLNAY 1er Cru Santenots Domaine Rémi Jobard 2021
An overtly floral and spice-suffused nose is comprised by notes of various red berries and exotic tea. I very much like the refined texture of the middleweight flavors even though they are not especially dense while exhibiting focused power and a light minerality on the youthfully austere finish that is firm enough to repay up to a decade of cellaring. This is a more elegant Santenots than usual.
