CHASSAGNE MONTRACHET 1er Cru Morgeot Domaine Henri Germain 2023
A smoky blend offers up notes of ripe apple, pear and lemon confit together with a hint of rosemary oil that are trimmed in just enough wood to bother mentioning. There is better volume to the large-scaled and moderately concentrated medium-bodied flavors that display focused power on the lingering bitter lemon-inflected finish that flirts with rusticity. I like the texture but this could use better depth.
MEURSAULT Chevalières Domaine Rémi Jobard 2022
(from vines planted in 1940). Attractively fresh and bright aromas of hazelnut, pear and apple compote are trimmed in soft floral nuances. There is fine volume to the gorgeously textured and vibrant medium weight flavors that exude evident minerality on the slightly more complex and youthfully austere finale. This is really quite stylish and well-worth checking out.
