CHASSAGNE MONTRACHET Les Chênes Domaine Fernand & Laurent Pillot 2023
A slightly more elegant nose thanks to a touch of floral influence is otherwise similar to the straight Chassagne. The elegance of the nose is affirmed on the middle weight flavors by a more refined mid-palate texture that is enhanced by slightly better energy that carries over to the lightly stony and youthfully austere finale. Lovely and worth considering plus Les Chênes typically ages well.
CHÂTEAU LÉOVILLE BARTON 2ème Cru Classé Saint Julien 2011
The 2011 Léoville-Barton has an endearing nose with well-defined red berry fruit, cedar, pencil box and light sous-bois aromas that unfold with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, fine depth and precision, well-integrated oak and a tensile, quite saline finish that is elegant and persistent. This is a beautiful 2017 that should age with style. Tasted blind at the annual 10-Year-On tasting.
