Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Cru 'Morgeot' Rouge, Domaine Fontaine-Gagnard 2020
The wines of Domaine Fontaine-Gagnard have a clear purity and minerality as well as a lovely weight and richness of fruit. The focus and precision is what makes them really stand out and with Céline Fontaine and her husband Fred Robert (formerly of Armand Rousseau) at the helm, you best keep a close eye on how high this Domaine will climb!
Nuits-Saint-Georges, Les Chaliots, Pierre Meurgey 2021
Pierre Meurgey is a fourth generation winemaker now bottling some incredibly wines under his own name. His Les Chaliots is medium to full-bodied, with a silky texture and finely integrated tannins. Flavours of ripe red and dark fruits are complemented by hints of licorice, forest floor, and a touch of minerality. The wine finishes with length and persistence, balancing richness with fresh acidity. Ideal with classic French dishes such as coq au vin, beef bourguignon, or duck confit. It also pairs well with game meats, roasted root vegetables, or hard cheeses like Comté or aged Gruyère.
