Chateau Beaumont 2021

' Located between Saint-Julien and Margaux, Chateau Beaumont is a member of the Union des Grands Crus and Alliance des Crus Bourgeois. Something of a model in its combination of modern techniques with Medoc tradition, Chateau Beaumont obtained certification of its compliance with Terra Vitis specifications in 2004 as well as the right to use the planned management label, proof of its commitment to environmentally friendly viticultural methods. Eric Boissenot consults at Chateau Beaumont, one of the larger Cru Bourgeois, with 113 hectares in a single block, the vines averaging twenty years of age. Wines spend 12 to 14 months in oak barrels, one-third of them renewed each year. 2021 was marked by a major frost episode in the spring which caused targeted losses on the Merlot. The summer season took a long time to settle in, although there was plenty of sunshine from August onwards. The singularity of this year's climate gives particular nuances to this vintage. These climatic conditions impacted the yields, as happened in 2020, will be slightly lower than in previous years. The harvested grapes were generous, with a good phenolic maturity. They have a remarkable softness and brightness that is conducive to the production of elegant and harmonious wines. The Merlots have very nice ripe fruit, the Cabernet Sauvignons are powerful with fine tannins. '

Tres Picos Garnacha 2022

Bodegas Borsao Tres Picos is the flagship wine from one of Spain's most respected Garnacha specialists — and it's easy to see why. Sourced from vines up to 60 years old, planted high in the rugged Alto Moncayo at 600–700 metres altitude, this is a bold, full-bodied Garnacha that manages to be both hedonistic and finely structured. A benchmark for the variety. Why You'll Love It Founded in 1959 as a co-operative, Bodegas Borsao has spent decades perfecting its understanding of Garnacha in the Campo de Borja. Tres Picos represents the very best of that knowledge — old vines, low yields, and careful winemaking producing a wine that punches well above its price point. Rich, generous, and deeply satisfying, this is the kind of Spanish red that converts people to Garnacha for life. Vineyard & Production Fruit is sourced from Borsao's oldest vines, rooted in poor clay and limestone soils at altitude in the Alto Moncayo. Low yields of under 4.5 tonnes per hectare ensure exceptional concentration and intensity. After temperature-controlled fermentation (25–30°C) with 20–25 days of skin contact, the wine matures for 5 months in new French oak barriques, adding depth and complexity without masking the vibrant fruit character. Tasting Notes An intense bouquet of ripe red fruits and floral notes, typical of Garnacha at its finest. The palate is rich and generous — bramble, strawberry, and raspberry fruit layered with warm vanilla, liquorice, and spice. Supple yet structured tannins lead to a long, expansive finish. Perfect Pairings Made for red meat. Think rib of beef, lamb chops, Iberian pork, or slow-roasted shoulder of lamb. Also excellent alongside a robust cheese board or a rich mushroom and lentil stew. The Blend Garnacha 100% — Campo de Borja DO, Aragon, Spain. Old vines. 5 months French oak. 75cl bottle.
