Château Berliquet, grand cru classé Saint-Emilion 2021
Softly spoken, carefully extracted, well-layered raspberry, damson and red cherry fruits, a subtle complexity that grows through the palate, with clear finesse, smoked earth and grilled cedar on the finish. First year of organic conversion, with certification expected 2024. 44% new oak, plus four amphora for ageing. 30hl/h yield, 3.41ph. Thomas Duclos consultant.
POMMARD 1er Cru Clos du Verger Domaine Fernand & Laurent Pillot 2019
(from a .66 ha holding). Strong menthol influence sits atop the overtly earthy aromas of red currant, cherry and pretty raspberry nuances. The succulent and relatively forward middle weight flavors terminate in a slightly tangy and warm finale.
