CHÂTEAU D'ISSAN 3ème Cru Classé Margaux 2021
Carefully constructed, has precision and plenty of dark fruits, black tea and grilled spices, good quality, slate tannins suggest the structure for long ageing, although the austerity of En Primeur is still present. Softens to show a ripe fig character through the mid palate and a juicy finish, skilful winemaking, understated but enjoyable. 50% new oak. Second year with all five of the major black grape varieties in the blend, and the Malbec and Petit Verdot make their presence felt.
SAINT AUBIN 1er Cru Pitangeret Domaine Joseph Colin 2023
A super-fresh nose freely reveals its array of the essence of pear and apple trimmed in subtle citrus, spice and floral wisps. There is again fine volume and mid-palate density to the solidly powerful and mineral driven flavors that exhibit fine length on the balanced finale. This moderately firm effort could use better depth so a few years of aging should prove to be beneficial.
