Château De La Gardine, Châteauneuf-Du-Pape Rouge 2023

La Gardine is one of the southern Rhône's most consistent names, farming 57 hectares across some of Châteauneuf's most storied soils. Their straight Châteauneuf rouge is a Grenache-led blend that captures everything the appellation does best: warmth, generosity, and that wild herbal scrubland quality that no amount of winemaking intervention can manufacture. The 2023 vintage was warm and dry, producing wines of real concentration, and La Gardine has handled it with characteristic assurance. We find it rich but not heavy, with dark fruit, roasted herbs, and a savouriness that keeps the ripeness honest.

Savigny-lès-Beaune 'Les Bas Liards', Domaine d'Alussia 2023

An address on a new trajectory and definitely a name to watch - we are excited to introduce Domaine d'Alussia for the first time to Honest Grapes club members. Winemaker Alexandra Wilson joined the domaine in August 2024, bringing valuable experience from her time with Benjamin Leroux and, before that, fellow Australian winemaker Jane Eyre. The team also benefits from the expertise of Bernard Zito, a renowned consultant and specialist in organic and biodynamic viticulture, aptly described by Winehog's Steen Öhman as “The Swiss Army knife of the Burgundy wine world.” "Like our Aux Montagnes, the vinification of Bas Liards took place in 1000L wooden vats for alcoholic fermentation and then pressed to barrel (30% new) for èlèvage. The fruit comes from biodynamically farmed 50yro vines at the base of the foothills in Savigny. Lifted and floral, it’s a classic example of Savigny Pinot Noir. A beautiful density and fruit weight to the palate of this wine. Fruit-forward with blood plum, blood orange, and red berries. Its fine sandy tannins and elegance lends itself to an early drinking style with ageability." Winemaker's note The domaine combines its own vineyards with contracts from trusted growers, offering a diverse range of wines. Notable holdings include a vineyard in Aloxe-Corton near the winery and three Premier Cru sites: Savigny-lès-Beaune, Pommard, and a prized 0.3-hectare plot in Puligny-Montrachet ‘Les Referts'.
