Château Ducru-Beaucaillou, La Croix de Beaucaillou 2018
Château Ducru-Beaucaillou, a Second Growth estate under the 1855 Bordeaux Classification, is celebrated for producing wines of remarkable finesse and structure. La Croix de Beaucaillou is crafted with the same care and attention as the grand vin, offering a more immediate and accessible interpretation of the château's style. Medium to full-bodied with velvety tannins and a seamless texture. The La Croix's ripe dark fruit flavours are interwoven with hints of spice, liquorice, and earthy minerality, creating a harmonious and well-balanced profile. Pair with grilled ribeye steak or lamb chops, roast duck with a red wine reduction, or wild mushroom risotto.
Volnay Premier Cru, Domaine Clos de la Chapelle 2022
Resurrected by life-long Burgundy lover Mark O’Connell in 2011 and our dear friend Pierre Meurgey, Domaine Clos de la Chapelle is headquartered at the Chateau de Bligny, owned by Pierre and no less than Dominique Lafon. The talent behind the new Domaine is considerable, and the wines are already getting rave reviews from the likes of Allen Meadows (Burghound), Neal Martin & Jasper Morris. We were so impressed by the wines after tasting the 2022s and were surprised to hear that they had little presence in the UK, so it is a real pleasure to offer these wines. "Deep colour, dusty nose of red currant, briar, just ripe hedgerow strawberries, sweet red peppers, red plum skin, paprika and quarried stone. Sappy, crunchy, peppery, herbaceous-edged palate, cranberry and sarsaparilla dominant, with lean, savoury tannins." Tom Harrow, Head Wine Guru
