Château Fonroque, (Magnum) 2020
The first biodynamic château to be part of St Émilion Grand Cru, Fonroque is always one of the best value picks from Bordeaux En Primeur. The estate was the original home of the Moueix family, who own Trotanoy and Lafleur-Petrus in Pomerol, as well as Dominus in Napa, though they sold the château to the Guillard family in 2017 (Alain Moueix has stayed on as an active consultant). Stylistically the wine is all about elegance and finesse, and the 2020 is arguably their finest vintage to date.

Domaine Fontaine-Gagnard is new to our offering this year and what a year to bring them in. This Domaine that covers a huge range of villages specialises in whites and over the past decade have raised their stock exponentially. With high acclaim from the 2014 and 2017 vintages, the 2020 has once again suited their style. The wines have a clear purity and minerality as well as a lovely weight and richness of fruit. The focus and precision is what makes them really stand out and with Celine Fontaine and her husband Fred Robert (formerly of Armand Rousseau) at the helm, you best keep a close eye on how high this Domaine will climb!
