Château Latour-Martillac Blanc 2020
Thanks to the long involvement of generations of the Kressmann family, and the recognition shown in 1953 by the classification of Graves, the wines of Château Latour-Martillac feature among the best of Pessac-Léognan. The 2020 Château Latour-Martillac Blanc has a bright, pale yellow colour with a slight greenish hue. The nose is expressive, with fresh aromas of citrus fruits like lemon and grapefruit, alongside white peach, green apple, and floral notes of acacia and honeysuckle. Subtle hints of minerality and toast contribute to its aromatic complexity, a result of partial barrel fermentation and aging. It's fresh and lively, with a creamy texture balanced by crisp acidity. Flavours of lemon zest, lime, and pear are prominent, interwoven with notes of stone fruits and a touch of salinity. The Sémillon adds roundness and depth, while the Sauvignon Blanc contributes brightness and lift. The finish is long, clean, and mineral-driven, showcasing both the finesse and intensity typical of Pessac-Léognan whites. This wine pairs beautifully with seafood, grilled fish, and creamy cheeses.
De Morgenzon Reserve Chenin Blanc 2022
DeMorgenzon’s Reserve Chenin Blanc is sourced from low-yielding vines planted in 1972 on decomposed granite soils. It displays layered aromas of ripe peach, apricot, and floral notes, with subtle hints of toasted almond and vanilla. On the palate, creamy texture and vibrant acidity combine with pear, honeyed citrus, and Golden Delicious apple, all supported by seamlessly integrated oak and a touch of flint and smokiness. The finish is long, lingering, and refined. Vineyard & Terroir Stellenbosch vineyards with old vines in decomposed granite soils, producing concentrated flavours and natural balance. Winemaking Handpicked fruit was gently pressed whole bunch and fermented naturally in French oak barrels (20% new) with indigenous yeasts. Partial malolactic fermentation was carried out, and the wine aged on its lees for 10 months without stirring to preserve texture and freshness. Tasting Notes Ripe stone fruit, honeyed citrus, flinty nuances, creamy yet vibrant, with a long, balanced finish. Food Pairing Pairs beautifully with roasted poultry, creamy pasta, seafood, and mildly spiced vegetable dishes.
