Château Latour Martillac Rouge, (Magnum) 2020

Thanks to the long involvement of generations of the Kressmann family, and the recognition shown in 1953 by the classification of Graves, the wines of Château Latour-Martillac feature among the best of Pessac-Léognan. The 2020 Rouge has a deep ruby colour. The nose is complex, offering layered aromas of ripe black fruits, including blackcurrant, blackberry, and plum, accompanied by hints of violet, tobacco, cedar, and a touch of graphite. There are also subtle undertones of spice, a result of careful oak aging, which adds depth without overwhelming the fruit character. On the palate, the 2020 is structured and well-balanced, with fine-grained tannins and refreshing acidity. The flavours mirror the nose, with notes of dark berries, cassis, and plum, interwoven with earthy, mineral elements and a slight smokiness. The finish is long and persistent, with lingering notes of dark chocolate and spice, showcasing the wine’s aging potential.

Pio Cesare Barolo 2020

Pio Cesare Barolo is a classic and deeply characterful expression of Nebbiolo from one of Piedmont's most historic and respected family estates, founded in Alba in 1881 by Cesare Pio. Crafted from a combination of family-owned vineyards in Serralunga d'Alba, Grinzane Cavour, La Morra and Barolo-Novello, aged for three years in French oak, this is Barolo of real elegance, structure and longevity. Why You'll Love It Pio Cesare has been producing Barolo and other traditional Piedmontese wines for generations, with an unwavering focus on quality, site expression and classic winemaking techniques. Their Barolo draws from multiple prestigious vineyard sites across the appellation, blending them to create a wine of complexity and harmony that reflects the full character of the Langhe. This is Barolo in the classic style, built for the table and built for the cellar, from a producer who has been doing it longer than almost anyone. Vineyard & Production Sourced from family-owned vineyards in Serralunga d'Alba, Grinzane Cavour, La Morra and Barolo-Novello, alongside select grapes from long-standing grower partners. Grapes are fermented in stainless steel tanks with around 20 days of skin contact to extract colour, tannin and aromatics. The wine is then aged for three years in mid-toasted French oak, 70% in large casks of 20 to 50 hectolitres and 30% in barriques, balancing structure and elegance. Tasting Notes Ethereal aromas of violets, blackberry jam, liquorice and cloves on the nose. The palate is dry and austere, with fine tannins and a lingering note of almonds on the finish. A wine of real depth, precision and classical Barolo character. Perfect Pairings A natural partner for braised meats, truffle dishes and mature cheeses. Also excellent with wild boar, slow-roasted lamb and hearty Piedmontese classics such as tajarin with meat ragu. Grape Variety Nebbiolo 100%
