Château Petit-Village 2017

The 2017 Château Petit-Village is a beautifully balanced Pomerol, offering aromas of ripe plums, blackberry pie, and baked blueberries, complemented by hints of kirsch, liquorice, camphor, and chargrill. Medium to full-bodied with a velvety texture, showcasing rich dark fruits flavours and a long, lingering finish. With a history dating back to 1785, the estate gained prominence in 1831 under the ownership of the Dufresne family. The estate spans 10.5 hectares, predominantly planted with Merlot, complemented by Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. The vineyard's terroir, characterised by deep gravel and clay soils, contributes to the production of wines with remarkable intensity and finesse. Under the guidance of winemaker Guillaume Frédoux and consultants Stéphane Derenoncourt and Marielle Cazeaux, Château Petit-Village continues to produce wines that reflect the exceptional quality of Pomerol.

Nuits-Saint-Georges Premier Cru 'Les Crots', Edouard Delaunay 2023

Est. delivery in 2026 Edouard Delaunay's 2023 reds are more refined, with less power than the previous years, offering more elegance and poise. The acidity is well-integrated, and the tannins are fine and soft, especially in the wines from the southern parts of Nuits-Saint-Georges (NSG), which do not include any whole bunches. The reds from 2023 show great potential for ageing, with enough structure to develop further while maintaining a fresh, layered character. "Sourced from the top of the slope in southern NSG, this wine is deep and intense with a mix of red and purple fruit, wild strawberries, and a lot of minerality. Aged in 50% new oak for 12 months, it has a silky texture with fine tannins, and its freshness and generosity show great ageing potential." Our note Overall, the 2023 vintage is a welcome surprise, offering a balance of power and elegance. With a focus on terroir expression, the wines show great ageing potential and freshness, with no over-ripeness or dilution. The whites are bright, fresh, and pure, while the reds show refinement and elegance, with a good structure for future ageing. While some of the wines are still developing, there is much to look forward to in the coming years. Delaunay features as one of the Top 15 Négociants & Cooperatives in Tim Atkin's Burgundy 2023 Special Report.
