Chateau Pineraie Cahors Malbec 2022

Château Pineraie Cahors Tradition is a classic expression of Malbec from its ancestral home in southwest France. This refined wine captures the power and depth of the Cahors terroir, offering an authentic taste of the region that inspired the global success of Argentinian Malbec. Meet the producer Château Pineraie is a family-run estate in Cahors, managed by the Burc family since 1456. The property spans 37 hectares across the Lot Valley, where ancient alluvial soils, limestone plateaux, and clay-marl terraces create a mosaic of terroirs. The Burc family’s philosophy combines traditional winemaking with sustainable vineyard management, using minimal intervention and careful yield control to ensure the highest quality fruit. Production The vineyards are planted primarily to Malbec (known locally as Côt) with a small proportion of Merlot. Grapes are hand-sorted and vinified under controlled temperatures of around 30°C. A long maceration of two to three weeks enhances colour, structure, and aromatic depth, supported by frequent pumping over and aeration. The wine is aged for 12 months in oak barrels—20% new—to integrate flavour and texture. Only light filtration is used before bottling to preserve purity and fruit character. Tasting notes Deep ruby in colour, this wine opens with aromas of ripe blackcurrant, cherry, and plum, framed by notes of spice and subtle oak. The palate is full-bodied and layered, displaying juicy black fruit, hints of pepper, and chalky tannins that lend grip and freshness. A long, balanced finish reveals both elegance and structure. Food match Perfect with roasted or grilled red meats, pork in peppercorn or wine sauces, and hearty game dishes. It also pairs beautifully with mature hard cheeses such as Comté or Manchego. Grape Malbec 85%, Merlot 15%

Tabali Pedregoso Gran Reserva Malbec 2024

Tabalí Pedregoso Gran Reserva Malbec is a refined and mineral red wine from the coastal Limarí Valley in Chile , planted on alluvial soils enriched with calcareous veins along the southern bank of the Limarí River. The Espinal vineyard's unique geology, stony alluvial terraces interspersed with limestone dust deposited by ancient glaciers, gives the wine remarkable freshness and a distinct mineral character that sets it apart from other Chilean Malbecs. Why You'll Love It This is Chilean Malbec with a real difference, sourced from the cool, coastal Limarí Valley near the edge of the Atacama Desert rather than the warmer inland valleys. The unique limestone-rich terroir and coastal influence create a wine with exceptional freshness, minerality, and elegance that is genuinely unlike anything else from Chile. Viña Tabalí, established in 2002, is a pioneering producer recognised for precise, terroir-driven wines that capture the unique character of northern and central Chile's distinctive coastal and desert-influenced regions. Vineyard & Production Grapes are hand-harvested at optimal aromatic and phenolic ripeness from the Espinal vineyard in the Limarí Valley, picked into 20kg bins to preserve integrity and minimise damage. Fermentation takes place in small, temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, followed by post-fermentation maceration to enhance structure and texture. The wine is then aged for 12 months in French oak barrels to integrate flavours and achieve a polished, elegant finish. Tasting Notes Violet-red in the glass. The nose reveals ripe plums, sour cherries, red fruits, and delicate violet aromas. On the palate, the wine is vibrant and fresh, with fine tannins, lively acidity, and a long, fruity finish with distinctive mineral notes. Perfect Pairings Ideal for barbecues, grilled meats, hearty autumn dishes, roasted lamb, or empanadas. The fresh acidity also makes it excellent with tomato-based pasta dishes. Grape Varieties Malbec 100%, Espinal vineya
