Chateau Puech-Haut Tete de Belier 2021

' Nestled between the shores of the Mediterranean and the foothills of the Cevennes, the Puech-Haut estate extends over more than one hundred and fifty hectares. The castle was built there with good reason: an ideal climate, passionate men and land covered with pudding stones (galets), made famous in Chateauneuf-du-Pape. Through wine, the personalities and the richness of an entire region are also expressed and shared. Thus, the wines of Chateau Puech-Haut are all steeped in history and endowed with a singular identity and a strong character. The history of Chateau Puech-Haut is closely linked to that of its founder, Gerard Bru. A man who, after a successful industrial career, decided to leave everything behind to reconnect with his roots: The land of Languedoc. This region of southern France was already full of history for Gerard. It was on this land that he was introduced to vineyards by his grandfather. And it is also here that his father worked as intendant of the National School of Agronomy of Montpellier. It was there, at the time just scrubland and wild olive groves, that he built his dream. '

San Marzano Anniversario 62 Primitivo Riserva 2019

' San Marzano is a small town in the centre of the Primitivo di Manduria DOP, a strip of land between the seas that wash over the Puglia region. It was here that 19 winegrowers founded Cantine San Marzano in 1962. Long before the appellation of origin was created and Primitivo di Manduria was recognised worldwide, they were chasing a dream. Twenty years later, Francesco Cavallo was appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors. A volcanic and visionary personality, he remained at the helm for 40 years, planning the future and overseeing the winery's present. The commitment and dedication of the cooperative members allowed the purchase of a modern bottling plant in 1996. The first bottles came out of the cellar, triggering the transition from commodity to brand. From bulk economy to a direct relationship with the end consumer. Move forward to 2000 and San Marzano's iconic label encapsulates its philosophy and essence. Produced from old vines, it is the expression of a thousand-year relationship between the people and the Primitivo grape. Sessantanni Primitivo di Manduria DOP is the label that has changed the perception of Puglian wines throughout the world. 62 Anniversario builds on that impact with a Riserva version to honour the founders of 1962. From 60 year old Alberello (bush-vines) in San Marzano and Sava (TA), Salento Puglia. The climate is characterised by high temperatures all year round, very little rainfall and a wide temperature range between night and day, which has a positive influence on the quality of the grapes. This is the central area of the Primitivo di Manduria DOP. Loam soil, finely textured and rich in iron oxides that give the topsoil the distinctive red hue. Calcareous subsoil (limestone) with a few emerging rocks. Vinification: Grapes are hand-harvested in advanced state of ripening. Destemming and crushing followed by cold soak maceration at 8°C for about 24-48 hours. Thermo-controlled maceration and alcoholic fermentation for about 10 days
