Château Roc de Cambes, Côtes de Bourg 2021
80% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon | 100% new oak | 13.7% alc If Domaine de Cambes is quiet and contemplative, then Roc is more ‘ROCK’. There is smokiness, expressive violets and roses on the nose and superb glossiness in the middle of the palate. There is more of a hillside/warmer/riper feel throughout this wine, bringing a more exotic nature to proceedings. Situated near the Gironde estuary, this is a more humid and foggy site and coupled with the clay soils, it matures late, and the results are often spectacular. The skins are so structured and packed with goodness that they bring depth and grace. The result is a tender 2021 with deep wells of black fruit in its core.
PINOT NOIR Pauline Vineyard Willamette Valley Illahe Vineyards 2021
Aged for 15 months in 20% new French oak. Vibrant crimson. More pure-fruited on the nose than the Percheron – far less of the savoury character here. Ripe, plush red fruit. Juicy and fresh on the palate. Oak-derived spice and a touch of vanilla adding a feeling of gentle warmth. Rose-hip finish with quite a bit of grip.
