CHÂTEAUNEUF DU PAPE Classique Domaine de Cristia (2023cl) 2023
Ripe black cherries, melted licorice, and roasted garrigue notes all emerge from Cristia's 2023 Châteauneuf Du Pape, a terrific base cuvée based on 85% Grenache and 15% Syrah. It's medium to full-bodied, has a broad, layered mouthfeel, plenty of tannins, and a great finish. It's going to be a plump, fruit-loaded, beautifully textured 2023 to drink over the coming 10-12 years.
PINOT NOIR Sonoma Coast Darling Wines 2021
A blend from two different sites. 70% whole bunch, spontaneous fermentation. Aged for 11 months in just four neutral French barriques. Transparent crimson with some purple notes. Intense and intensely pure nose with hints of elderberry fruit. A little skinny on the mid palate. Clean and fresh though not that complex. Usefully low alcohol?
