CHÂTEAUNEUF DU PAPE Classique Domaine de Cristia (2023cl) 2023
Ripe black cherries, melted licorice, and roasted garrigue notes all emerge from Cristia's 2023 Châteauneuf Du Pape, a terrific base cuvée based on 85% Grenache and 15% Syrah. It's medium to full-bodied, has a broad, layered mouthfeel, plenty of tannins, and a great finish. It's going to be a plump, fruit-loaded, beautifully textured 2023 to drink over the coming 10-12 years.
POUILLY FUISSÉ Madrigal Domaine Frantz Chagnoleau 2023
The 2023 Pouilly-Fuissé Madrigal is raised in used barrels with around 20% new oak. This has a wonderful bouquet with yellow plum, honeysuckle and light apricot blossom scents that gain vigour in the glass. The palate is fresh and vibrant, lightly spiced, a little more cohesive and concentrated than the Pastoral and more sustained on the finish. This has enormous potential and there is nary a Premier Cru berry in the blend!
