Cherry Block Pinot Noir 2019
This fragrant Central Otago Pinot Noir has vivid aromas of black cherry and spice - cinnamon. The palate has black cherries, crushed red berries, spicy tannins and dried herbs with savoury notes and mineral undertones. Intensely fruity & juicy, with a vibrant yet silky palate. Cherry block is a collaboration project between a top Otago producer and the team at Antipodean Sommelier. "We have created a Central Otago Pinot that showcases the typical characters that have made Central Otago famous in the world of wine. The extreme continental climate of Central Otago is one of fiercely cold nights and long, warm summer days. It is these intense conditions combined with the lush surrounding cherry orchards that serve to create the vivid, rich and spicy nature of Cherry Block Pinot Noir.
Schola Sarmenti Cubardi Primitivo 2023
A profound and elegant Primitivo born from 65-year-old bush-trained vines deeply rooted in the red soils of Salento. This is a wine of heritage and power, crafted with precision and respect for tradition. Vineyard & Production The old vines are trained in the Alberello Pugliese system at a density of 4,500 plants per hectare, yielding just 900 to 1,100 grams per plant. Grapes are hand-picked and carefully placed into airy crates before vinification. The wine is aged for six months in French oak tonneaux and a further eight months in bottle, allowing structure and depth to harmonise beautifully. Tasting Notes From these venerable vines comes a Primitivo that expresses authenticity and finesse. The bouquet reveals intense notes of ripe fruit, with inviting hints of tobacco, followed by a soft finish of chocolate and coffee. On the palate, it is velvety and enveloping, with gently expanding tannins that lend persistence and grace. The texture is rich yet airy, leaving a long and memorable impression that speaks of the wine’s strong personality. Food Match Ideal with braised meats, mature cheeses, or rich game dishes.
