Cline Old Vine Zinfandel Lodi 2023
Cline Cellars is a family-owned winery established in 1982 by Fred Cline in Sonoma's Carneros Valley. For this Red Wine , Cline sources fruit from 14 superb Zinfandel vineyards in the legendary Lodi AVA, where the most established vines were planted in the 1950s. The focus is on harmony, early drinkability and elegant structure, producing a classic Californian Zinfandel of real character and generosity. Why You'll Love It This is old vine Zinfandel at its most expressive. Lodi's warm days and cool nights allow the variety to ripen fully while retaining freshness, and Cline's careful winemaking ensures the abundant fruit is never masked by oak. Vegetarian, vegan, and sustainably produced, it offers outstanding quality and drinkability at a very approachable price. Vineyard and Production. Grapes are de-stemmed and lightly crushed to preserve fruit and limit harsh tannin extraction. A moderately warm fermentation in closed stainless steel tanks follows, using specific wine yeast. Once desired tannin levels are achieved, the wine is racked two or three times before ageing in wood for eight months. Thirty-five percent new French oak with a medium toast level contributes a delicate toasty vanilla character without masking the abundant fruit. Tasting Notes. A wide array of ripe sweet berry fruit on the nose, including black cherry and strawberry. The palate follows with dark spicy notes of star anise and clove, while the finish is juicy with gentle, supple tannins. Perfect Pairings. An excellent match for roast belly pork and spicy stews. Also well suited to bao buns, hoisin duck and sweet, smoky BBQ ribs. Grape Varieties. Zinfandel
Finca Ferrer Estate Grown Malbec 2017
It was 1861 when Francesc Sala Ferre became the first member of the Ferrer-Sala family to enter the wine business, but his ancestors had already been making wine for centuries on the family estates of La Freixeneda and Can Sala, both in the heart of the Catalan-Spanish Penedès. After revolutionizing sparkling wines with Freixenet from 1914, the family has not stopped looking for new frontiers and new sensations in the world of wine, as they did with their landings in Sonoma (USA) and Champagne (France) in the 80s, in the most prestigious Spanish Designations of Origin in the 90s, and finally in Gualtallary, in the heart of Uco Valley (Argentina) in the 2000s. In Gualtallary we found the perfect terroir for the planting of our vineyards. A singular soil where the radiant mountain sun bathes the vineyards, like the crystalline water of the thaw that comes down, not from the sky, but from the imposing snowy Andes. By day, the grape skin darkens and gains in perfume and taste. At night, the cool mountain breeze stops time, the valley is quiet and the fruit ripens in its complexity. Finca Ferrer is located in the prestigious and unique region of Gualtallary in Tupungato, a sub-region of the Uco Valley in the province of Mendoza, Argentina. There, in its 317 hectares at more than 1300 meters above sea level, it gives life to exquisite wines of the Malbec, Syrah, Pinot Noir, Tempranillo, Chardonnay and Torrontes varietals planted on a sandy and rocky soil with a calcareous base, poor in organic matter. With exceptional drainage and the help of the characteristic winds, the plant remains healthy and strong from its conception. The thermal amplitude of 16 C with great solar intensity and low night temperatures generate grapes of outstanding colour and aroma. Hand-harvested grapes are selected from low yielding vineyards. Fermented in stainless steel vats to capture the variety's aromas and bright fruit flavours. 80% of the wine is aged for 12 months in French oak barrels an
