Clos-Saint-Denis Grand Cru, Domaine Georges Lignier et Fils 2021

The 2021 Clos-Saint-Denis Grand Cru from Domaine Georges Lignier et Fils is a refined and expressive Pinot Noir that captures the elegance of this legendary vineyard. On the nose, expect delicate red fruit aromas - think cherry and raspberry - layered with subtle earthy and floral notes. The palate is silky and precise, with fine-grained tannins and a vibrant freshness that carries the fruit beautifully. Founded over hundred years ago, Georges Lignier has some of the greatest vineyards in and around Morey-Saint-Denis. Jasper Morris observes “ one of the strengths of the 16ha domaine is to have mature vineyards… replanted systematically in the 1950s with good vine material, not clones. ” The domaine is led by Benoit Stehly, nephew of Georges Lignier, who worked for a decade alongside his uncle, before assuming control of the work in both the vineyard and the cellar in 2008.

Henschke Mount Edelstone Shiraz 2017

Henschke crafts some of the New World's greatest wines, with a vitality, energy and vibrancy you rarely see in Barossa. The Henschke wines are produced using biodynamic and organic methods, to preserve the quality of the vines and soil for the generations to come. The beautiful and historic name Mount Edelstone is a translation from the German Edelstein meaning ‘gemstone’, a reference to small yellow opals once found in the area. The Mount Edelstone vineyard was planted in 1912 by Ronald Angas, a descendant of George Fife Angas who founded The South Australian Company and played a significant part in the formation and establishment of South Australia. Unusual for its time, the vineyard was planted solely to Shiraz.
