COATES & SEELY BRUT BRITAGNE COATES & SEELY Reserve Brut Britagne
The NV Brut Reserve has a Zen-like nose, one where I am seeking more intensity. Maybe this is a bit too subtle for its own good. The palate is taut and fresh on the entry, with Granny Smith apples and freshly squeezed lime, moderate complexity and a malic finish. This is a decent Brut Reserve that just needs a tad more pizzazz.
MERCUREY Vieilles Vignes Domaine Raquillet 2022
(from vines that average 65+ years of age). A mild touch of reduction blurs the nuance of the ripe red and dark berry fruit and earth scents that are trimmed in a light application of wood. The rich, voluminous and delicious middle weight flavors possess fine mid-palate density while delivering finale length on the balanced, robust and moderately powerful finale. This is a quality Mercurey villages and worth considering.
