Côte De Nuits-Villages, Domaine Jean Tardy et Fils, (Magnum) 2021
Blink and you’d literally miss Domaine Jean Tardy, an envelope-sized sign by a driveway off the RN74 just outside Vosne Romanée the only indication that you are in the right place. Unprepossessing as this domaine looks, the wines continue to show plenty of personality and Guillaume does a particularly impressive line in vieilles vignes lieu dits (old vine, single vineyards), which allow him to “ avoid making a bad marriage between the wrong parcels ”. The results are always seductive and digestible and compete with premier crus for quality and complexity. Guillaume's Côte de Nuits-Villages 2021 is designed for relatively early consumption but has the potential to develop further complexity with a few years of aging. Proper cellaring will enhance its evolution and longevity.
Roblet Monnot, Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru 2008
All of Domaine Roblet-Monnot holdings are in Volnay and cover an area spanning 6 hectares. The vineyard turned to bio-dynamic wine making in 1997 and has 12,000 vines per hectare with very low yield of 30-35 hectoliters per hectare These combined factors have transformed the estate into one of the leading sources of wine from these communes.
