CÔTE RÔTIE Champon Domaine Clusel-Roch 2019
100% Syrah. Organic. Cask sample. Tasted blind. Cocoa nib and earthy notes dominate the nose. Lively palate of white pepper, blackberry and sweet fruit. Finely tuned tannins with a freshly ground coffee note. Good vibrancy and lots of earthiness on the finish.
SAINT AUBIN 1er Cru Chatenière Domaine Joseph Colin 2021
Here the equally restrained nose is dominated by a smoky petrol character along with background citrus nuances. There is slightly better volume and mid-palate density to the delicious middleweight flavors that possess a lovely texture and evident minerality on the very dry and lingering but not really austere finale. Lovely.
