CÔTE RÔTIE Les Grandes Places Domaine Clusel-Roch 2018
Saturated ruby. Ripe black and blue fruits, incense, olive and a strong violet note on the exotically perfumed nose, along with smoky mineral and spice flourishes. Sappy and broad in the mouth, showing impressive depth and fine definition to its ripe boysenberry, cherry liqueur, salty olive and floral pastille flavors. At once rich and lively in character, this finishes with impressive power, well-judged tannins and lingering spice, mineral and floral notes.
MEURSAULT Sous la Velle Domaine Rémi Jobard 2022
(from a .33 ha parcel). Pungent aromas of reduction and wood render the nose tough to evaluate. More interesting are the round, delicious and equally caressing medium weight flavors that possess fine mid-palate volume, all wrapped in a clean, dry and citrus-inflected finish that could use better depth.
