CÔTE RÔTIE Vires de Serine Domaine Rémi Niero 2020
Black raspberries, red plums, flowery incense, and sandalwood notes all emerge from the 2020 Côte Rôtie Vires De Serine, a medium-bodied, pure, pretty, exotic, and floral Côte Rôtie that has supple tannins and a great finish. It's clearly an outstanding wine, but it's going to need a few years of bottle age.
NUITS SAINT GEORGES 1er Cru Les Vignes Rondes Domaine J. Confuron Cotetidot 2017
Here the wood treatment isn’t subtle and while it stops short of fighting with the spicy aromas of violet and red currant, it’s close. Otherwise there is terrific punch to the relatively refined medium-bodied flavors thanks to the dense but fine-grained tannins shaping the linear and somewhat strict finish. Like many of the wines in the range, this will definitely need time as it’s presently very tightly wound.
