CÔTES DE NUITS VILLAGES Les Vignottes Domaine Jean-Jacques Confuron 2023
Moderate reduction pushes the fruit to the background though there is by contrast good freshness and vibrancy to the medium weight flavors that conclude in a rustic and mildly edgy finish that is a bit more tightly wound. This is awkward and I suspect that the recent bottling has upset the balance for the moment.
PINOT NOIR Pauline Vineyard Willamette Valley Illahe Vineyards 2021
Aged for 15 months in 20% new French oak. Vibrant crimson. More pure-fruited on the nose than the Percheron – far less of the savoury character here. Ripe, plush red fruit. Juicy and fresh on the palate. Oak-derived spice and a touch of vanilla adding a feeling of gentle warmth. Rose-hip finish with quite a bit of grip.
