Stella Bella Chardonnay 2022
This boutique winery in the heart of Margaret River produces distinctively named ranges like Suckfizzle , crafted with a low-intervention, organic ethos that allows their vineyards to express their full potential. Winemaker Luke Jolliffe has earned international recognition for wines that combine Margaret River restraint and elegance with pure, vibrant fruit, resulting in wines that are refined, expressive, and highly enjoyable. Viticulture The Stella Bella Chardonnay is sourced from annual picks of the Luminosa and Forest Grove vineyard sites in the southern Margaret River region, chosen to capture strong varietal character and maintain high natural acidity. Fruit comes from a selection of clones, predominantly Gin Gin. Winemaking Grapes are hand-picked and whole-bunch pressed. Juice is cold-settled for 24 hours before wild fermentation in a mix of new and old French oak barriques. Battonage is conducted based on taste throughout maturation to achieve precise aroma, line, and length. The wine is matured for 9 months before bottling. Tasting Note Brilliant pale lemon with green highlights. The bouquet is intense and complex, featuring white flowers, anise, and lemon curd interwoven with spicy oak, subtle yoghurt-like nuances, and a hint of struck match. The palate is taut and precise, with citrus, pear, and briny/mineral elements melding seamlessly with savoury, nutty, fine-grained oak. The finish is long, with a grapefruit-like tang and persistent elegance and finesse. Food Matching Pairs beautifully with roasted pork belly or duck.
